HOW TO FINGER DETANGLE..The simplest way to detangle your hair to avoid breakage is by using your fingers...Learn how to finger detangle your hair properly!!

Finger detangling is basically combing your hair with your fingers alone.

This is the detangling method I like the most because your fingers doesn't have any cracks or broken part that can snag at your hair or catch in it and cause it to break.

Also your fingers can be really gentle and gentler than most combs if you're patient with it.

You need utmost patience in order to properly finger detangle your hair so if you're in a hurry, it's probably a wrong time to try to detangle your hair with your fingers.

It's very important you know that IT'S YOUR FINGERS YOU NEED NOT YOUR FINGERNAILS!!!

Keep your nails away please. If you use them, then you're better off using a comb in the first place.

THE FIRST STEP in finger detangling is to never detangle dry.

It's not worth it. Dry hair is brittle, even though you're using fingers, it could break so MAKE SURE you spray your hair lightly first.

Use your spritz, plain water or leave in conditioner and slightly dampen your hair first.

THE SECOND STEP is to detangle in sections. Just the way it's advised to wash your hair in sections, so also you should detangle in sections. Natural hair has this affinity (likeness) to itself.

Yes, it just sticks to each other when you leave it all out. That's the reason why it tangles so easily when you don't part it and put it in sections especially when you just finished loosening your braids.

THE THIRD STEP is to start from bottom or tips. You start from the tips of your hair and work your way to the root.

The tips are the oldest and therefore the weakest part of your hair strand so you take care of it first before others.

You don't start from the root and start dragging down, there will be tangles. You use your fingers, gently working through the tangles at the tips and get it out of the way first. You continue moving up till you get to the root.

So you cut out a section, smooth out the hair with your palm by lightly dragging or doing and up and down motion from root to tip.

Then from tip, try to separate the strands, removing shed hair and straightening out all tangles and knots, continue that way till you get to the root.

Run your fingers through it again to be sure there are no more tangles and then put in a twist. This will keep the hair stretched, not shrinking much and curling into itself to form more tangles, it'll also keep it our of the way so it doesn't tangle with other sections you haven't detangled yet.

You need lots of patience if you're going to finger detangle and go ahead to make this a lifestyle; you can't be in a hurry or angry with your hair and start tugging and tugging.

With this you'll achieve more length retention and less breakage!

Thanks!
